Chautauqua Wind Power

The Citizens Respond

About This Web Site

My name is Steven Lax and I have been living in the Westfield, NY area for about 10 years. I have created this web site as a response to the proposed installation of 34 or more giant wind turbines in the towns of Westfield and Ripley New York. This site is being developed independently by me with the assistance and information from other citizens in the towns as well as experts in the field of Industrial Wind Power and Ornithology. Others who are providing assistance to me include individuals who posses direct experience with Utility Scale Wind Power. The common thread among all of the people who are providing me with information is a concern about large scale wind power in general and the proposed project in Westfield and Ripley specifically. We are not against renewable energy but believe renewable energy must be developed in a responsible way that is sensitive to both the environment and those who are directly affected by such projects. All factors must be considered before making an irreversible decision regarding the installation of the giant machines.

Issues that have my neighbours, friends and me concerned run a wide gamut, ranging from the history of the developer and the wind industry in general, to problems with the technology that can't be mitigated - regardless of what the wind industry claims. Take a look around the site to see why so many of us are concerned. If after reading these pages, you agree with some of what is said, there are several ways that you can help. For more information, see the page called "What Can I Do?"

Green Energy is only green when it doesn't damage the area where it is generated.
